How do you do it?
No, this is not a sex question. That would make for a good post. However , I'm wondering how you guys deal with dinner at your house? Until now, I would just go to the store, get some meat, sides, snacks... Then decide that day what I'm going to fix for dinner. Do all of you plan your meals for the week , then shop accordingly? Do you have dinner ready when your husband comes home? Cuz thats what mine want's. I don't blame him. I'm just still getting use to having 2 kids so I'm trying. I probably should try harder. Do your husbands cook at all? I just wan't the scoop. So whats the dilleo?

Well we go to the grocery store every Sunday and we have our dinners kind of planned out so we know what to get. Most of the time I have to hit Safeway b/c we forgot a main ingredient. But we aren't very creative in the kitchen...more a lack of patience so we have our standard meal rotations so it doesn't require a lot of planning. And they are normally quick and easy meals.
Bryan cooks since he's home first and I'll clean up. But if I'm home first I start cooking. I'm very lucky he'll cook since I hate it but you can bet your butt that when I'm home w/the kid he'll expect dinner on the table when he walks in! Not sure if I can do it! Our theory is whoever is home first, get cooking and the other person clean up. 50/50 baby!
HOLY....DOES MY HUSBAND COOK...LOL I wish. Since I work full time I try to either cook enough of one thing to last a few days or I cook something after J has went to bed for the next day. It is a pain in the ass but it saves me from rushing around when I get home and I don't want her eating chicken nuggets or hot dogs everynight.
I usually buy what I need at the store for meals on Sundays to last for the next week.
Thanks for coming by and checking out my space. Come back anytime :)
oh, PALEASE. Dinner ready when he gets home? As if. Plan? HA!
Does that help?
Sometimes I plan it, sometimes I wing it. It depends on what I'm in the mood to eat, and how much stuff we already have to make it. When we run out of incidentals (flour, milk, bread, etc.) I will usually pick up grocery items for a week's dinner or so. I used to try to have dinner ready when hubby came home, but TO HELL WITH THAT. He can eat when I'm good and ready to cook, how ya like that? LOL
Kelli-
I especially like this question. It is very interesting what other young families do. Things have changed since I was a young mother with three little ones. I cooked every night, people didn't eat out so much then. Also, keep in mind ladies that you don't have to have gourmet meals. Think easy. Kelli is a good little cooker. She is more creative than I ever was. I always went for the simple things, where Kelli will open up cook books and look for something different. I give her a lot of credit, but I think that hubby might be just as happy with the simple things and it would be so much easier for you. You are really trying to please that man of yours!
We try to come up with a supper menu for the week. We usually follow it, and it means only going shopping once a week.
Dh does most of the cooking. I do the cleaning up. We are very much a team by trying to share the load. I do cook some stuff, but dh LIKES to cook.
I like to hear the 50/50 teamwork!
I usually shop once a week, except for stuff that runs out like milk and bread. I do not plan my meals, just whatever I feel like having since I'm the one who cooks. I like to eat around 5 or 5:30. My husband sometimes cooks, but I get mac and cheese with hot dogs, not lasagna or steak...would be nice though!!!!
